Katarzyna Skiert-Andrzejuk, PhD

Political scientist, international relations researcher, and expert specializing in the political and economic analysis of Central Asia and the South Caucasus. In her academic research and analysis, she focuses on system and socio-political transformation processes in post-Soviet states, civic and political engagement of the young generation, as well as modern foreign policy instruments—including environmental diplomacy and the concept of “green soft power,” with a particular emphasis on China’s involvement under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

She currently serves as Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations and Head of the Center for Asian Economies at Collegium Civitas in Warsaw. She is also the managing editor of the renowned academic journal Nowa Polityka Wschodnia. She obtained her PhD in social sciences (in the discipline of political science and public administration) in July 2025 from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, based on a dissertation devoted to the socio-political adaptation and democratization attitudes of the young generation of Georgians.

Dr. Skiert-Andrzejuk actively participates in international research projects. She was a researcher in the NCN Sonata grant on Chinese environmental diplomacy, as part of which she conducted research visits at leading American analytical and academic centers (including Stanford University, the Center for Strategic and International Studies – CSIS, the Wilson Center, and George Washington University) as well as in Kazakhstan (including Narxoz University and KIMEP University). She collaborates closely with expert institutions and universities in Central Asia and the US, including co-organizing series of international seminars on water security and climate change in cooperation with the Central Asia Program at George Washington University.

She is the author of numerous academic publications issued by leading international publishers (including Routledge) and reputable journals (such as The International Spectator, Polish Political Science Yearbook, and Sprawy Międzynarodowe). As an expert, she regularly comments on current political events in the media (including TVP World) and coordinates projects promoting knowledge about the region.
